Abstract Background Most studies on day-to-day patterns of physical behaviours (i.e. activities and sedentary behaviour) are based adults with high socioeconomic status (SES) without differentiating between work leisure time. Thus, we aimed to characterise the time among low SES investigate influence behaviours. Methods This cross-sectional study included 963 from occupations (e.g. manufacturing, cleaning transportation). The participants wore accelerometers for 1–7 days measure during time, expressed as time-use compositions consisting spent sedentary, standing or being active (walking, running, stair climbing, cycling). Intra-individual variability in day-to-day and month-to-month measurements of physical activity and sedentary behaviour at work and in leisure-time among Danish adults

BACKGROUND Accelerometers can obtain precise measurements of movements during the day. However, the individual activity pattern varies from day-to-day and there is limited evidence on measurement days needed to obtain sufficient reliability. The aim of this study was to examine variability in accelerometer derived data on sedentary behaviour and physical activity at work and in leisure-time dur...

Work stress, socioeconomic status and neuroendocrine activation over the working day.

Socioeconomic status (SES) differences in cardiovascular and metabolic disease risk may be mediated in part by differential activation of neuroendocrine pathways. We have previously found that salivary cortisol levels over the working day are greater in lower than higher SES men, but that cortisol output is greater in higher than lower SES women. This study investigated the role of work stress ...

But at other moments, the classroom is so lifeless or painful or confused—and I am so powerless to do anything about it—that my claim to be a teacher seems a transparent sham. Then the enemy is everywhere: in those students from some alien planet, in that subject I thought I knew, and in the personal pathology that keeps me earning my living this way. What a fool I was to imagine that I had mas...
